The RLC can only provide financial support for its endorsed candidates through our Political Action Committee: RLCUSA-PAC. After reviewing 45 federal campaigns, the Board selected seven competitive or favored federal races for contributions. Regrettably, due to complex state campaign restrictions, the PAC was unable to provide assistance to our many state legislative candidates. We urge our members to make the largest contribution they can afford directly to those candidates.
Although we had reservations about their campaign themes and unfortunate bumbling, both Virginia Senator George Allen and Missouri Senator Jim Talent are in tight races and have earned consistently high ratings in our Liberty Index. Seven other endorsed U.S. Senators appear to be on their way to victory. The PAC Board recognized top-rated Nevada Incumbent John Ensign with a contribution to his campaign.
There were several competitive U.S. House races among the 29 RLC endorsements. Peter Roskam in the Illinois 6th Congressional District and Steve Chabot in Ohio 1st CD have the toughest competition and received PAC contributions, as did RLC member Steve Finger in New York's 11th CD. The Roskam and Finger races are for open seats and very promising opportunities.
Contributions were also made to perennial RLC favorite Reps. Ron Paul of Texas and Jeff Flake of Arizona. Both are running strong and safe campaigns.
PAC contributions are determined by the Board of Directors, based on endorsements and recommendations of the Republican Liberty Caucus Board, officers, and members. We encourage our members and supporters to contribute through the PAC to federal campaigns, as a means of highlighting our support for liberty-minded candidates. Late contributions to the fund will be held in reserve for possible 2007 special elections and early primary support in 2008.

RLC Favorite State Candidates

The Caucus has endorsed over 110 candidates for state legislative seats. We're delighted to count many of them as RLC leaders and members. RLC Maine Coordinator R. Kenneth Lindell is seeking re-election and Washington Coordinator Toby Nixon is running for an open senate seat. Former New York Coordinator Stuart Mirsky is challenging an incumbent in the state 23rd Assembly District. Honorary Georgia Chairman, Senator David Shafer, is seeking re-election to his 48th District seat. Several RLC Advisory Board members are also seeking re-election, including Vic Kohring in Alaska, Clay Aurand in Kansas, Robert E. Hedlund in Massachusetts, Frank Lassee in Wisconsin and Sam Slom in Hawaii.
There are a host of other RLC members either seeking re-election or running for the first time in federal, state, and local campaigns. Although they are too numerous to mention individually, you can find complete campaign contact information at our website. We urge all of our members and supporters to participate in local campaigns.

RLC Endorses Initiatives
Hundreds of state initiatives and propositions will be on ballots this November and most RLC Chartered state boards will be making recommendations to members. Of particular interest to RLC members are those that seek to restrict eminent domain takings and limit state tax increases or expenditures. National Directors have approved an omnibus endorsement of all Anti-Kelo and TABOR measures across the country.
The RLC Statement of Principles and Positions asserts that: "We support the right of people to be secure in their persons and property and oppose any use of eminent domain except for essential government functions. "
We support the legal and legislative efforts of the Castle Coalition and the Institute for Justice to restrict government takings for private purposes and urge our members to support all state constitutional and statutory limitations.
Our members have been actively involved in promoting the Taxpayer Bill of Rights [TABOR] efforts to limit state taxation and spending powers in their states. Most proposals limit increases to inflation and population growth, but they are ideal vehicles for promoting reductions in all state government operations and interventions.
