RLC Mission
Statement
After decades of New Deal and Great Society
social activism; combined with the rapid decline in
civics and American history education in our
government-run public schools; mixed with a growing
population of ill-informed and apathetic voters;
government at every level in this country continues to
be too big, too intrusive and too expensive.
Founded in 1990, the Republican Liberty Caucus
works to advance the principles of limited
government, individual liberty and free markets within
the Republican Party and throughout the nation. Our
focus is on a broad range of issues, including
education, taxation, property rights, gun rights, free
speech, federalism and the proper role of government.
While rolling back
decades of government "nannyism" will require
a great deal of public education and grassroots
lobbying, the most important means of changing public
policy is to change public officials. Therefore, the
Republican Liberty Caucus works to elect pro-liberty
Republicans to offices at all levels, partisan and
non-partisan, in both primary and general elections.
The Republican Liberty
Caucus is committed not to just electing more
Republicans ... but better ones, as well.
Programs
& Activities
The RLC has an
ongoing list of projects that help us complete current
plans and goals. These projects help bring awareness to
all Americans about the importance of limited
government, freedom and liberty.
Liberty Compact
The Republican Liberty Caucus sponsors and
distributes The Liberty Compact, a pledge signed by
local, state and national candidates and incumbents
which identifies them as supporting the
pro-liberty/limited-government agenda in office.
Liberty Index
The Republican Liberty Caucus maintains a liberty
rating system, The Liberty Index, to track and
identify the pro-liberty voting records of Members
of Congress. The Liberty Index is compiled and
distributed annually.
Liberty Publications
In order to promote public awareness and interest in
the organization and its goals, the Republican
Liberty Caucus publishes a series of newsletters:
Republican Liberty
is the organization's monthly printed newsletter
distributed to members, financial supporters,
elected representatives and others covering the
organization's activities and progress.
Liberty Watch
is an e-mail newsletter distributing press
releases, op/eds and analyses of issues and
legislation from around the country.
Liberty Campaign
Training The Republican Liberty
Caucus hosts, presents and sponsors various training
programs for RLC state/local chapters, grassroots
activists, party leaders and candidates across the
country including live seminars, teleconferences,
boot camps, special reports, manuals, online chats,
audio- and videotapes, etc., focusing on areas such
as voter identification, recruiting volunteers,
fundraising, opposition research, message &
communications, etc.
Liberty Outreach
The Republican Liberty Caucus sponsors efforts to
bring back disenchanted independent and third party
voters who share a common ideological philosophy of
government ... including members of the Libertarian
Party, Reform Party and Constitution Party.
The RLC also undertakes efforts to unite and work
with the various wings of the Republican Party in
areas of mutual interest.
Liberty Candidate
Assistance In addition to training
and volunteer activities, the Republican Liberty
Caucus has a Political Action Committee (RLCUSA-PAC)
for the purpose of providing direct financial
assistance to qualified, like-minded candidates and
will additionally, where appropriate, make
independent expenditures on behalf of selected
candidates, legislation and ballot initiatives, as
well as undertake issue advocacy projects.
